Weasel alert

Today Karl Rove resurfaced at a meeting of Republican activists to lay out what he thinks should be the strategy for the 2006 midterm elections.

Check this out- he criticized the Democrats for the Alito hearings, saying the Democrats looked "small-minded and mean spirited."

Mean-spirited? This is coming from a man who's made it his life's work to mudsling and attack? Oh my fucking head, if this isn't hypocrisy at its worst.

But it gets better. Oh yes. Rove says that the GOPers think post-9/11 and the Dems think pre-9/11.

Well, he has that partly right in that the Democratic Party isn't behaving like the Constitution was also destroyed on 9/11 or thinking that just because we were attacked our government needs to resort to lies to justify our position to the citizens of this country and the rest of the world.

And then we had the sorry-assed spectacle of Rove lecturing on national security and saying that the Democrats are weak in that area. Strange words to be coming from a man who outed an undercover CIA agent, don't you think? We still don't know the extent of the damage he caused by outing Valerie Plame or how many undercover informants ended up dead because their cover was blown in the fallout.

See, this is what gets me about the GOP. They lied to spark this vicious horrible war, a war in which they had no strategy, envisioning US forces being ushered into Baghdad by brass bands marching on rose-covered roads. That the President's own FATHER said invading Iraq was a bad idea.... Jesus, it just boggles the mind.

That Bush ran saying he would restore respect for the presidency... I guess that was code for "there will still be lies but there absolutely positively will be no blowjobs." Oh no, instead of lying about blowjobs, he'll lie about the pretenses for a war. Instead of a few stains on a blue Gap dress, we have 2500+ US servicepeople shipped home in pine boxes, $350 billion drained from the treasury, 31,000 dead Iraqis, and a civil war sparked that threatens to engulf the entire region.

So I ask you, which was the more damaging lie?

And these are the people Rove says should keep running the country?
