Holy smoking gun Batman!
Well well well..... Interesting bit of news today. NBC news showed tapes of videoconferences held between FEMA, El Presidente, and the National Weather Service pretty much predicting that New Orleans was going to be doomed by Hurricane Katrina. The tapes looked like they were broadcast from the space shuttle and it's nice to see that even with trillions of dollars at their disposal, they can't produce that much higher quality webcast than I can here at home with a $50 webcam and an ordinary broadband connection.
It was very unsettling to sit there and watch the report. One thing it did was offer a degree of redemption to Mike Brown, who has been saying all along that he was made a scapegoat for the failings of the federal government. He's not totally off the hook, but now the bulk of the blame has clearly been shifted up the food chain and there's some serious 'splainin that needs to be done.
With everything that's happened to him over the past month, Bush might well decide to join Osama and disappear into the caves of Tora Bora as well.
